Recipes for Happy LivingThe Recipes for Happy Living blog is about healing for depression, the Biblical way. Our main goal is to learn to change our thinking, and think our way into happiness.

Personally, I am a deep thinker to a fault and my endless thoughts can get out of hand if I let them.

They can take me places I’ve never been, take me back into the painful past and carry me back through conversations from years ago. They can plan a wonderful future, then throw a doubtful damper into it all in one sitting.

My thoughts can make me have a wonderful day or they can cause me to go into the fog of depression.

Recipes for Happy Living will force me to hold my thoughts captive to Jesus and stay in the positive mode. I hope you will follow my blog and allow it to do the same for you. Please read and share with each other each week.

To help you understand where I’m coming from, I posted an old article called I think, Therefore I Am. Many of you have probably read it before, but consider a quick review. I truly believe it is our own thinking that keeps us from walking the course that God intended for his children. I believe the cross is the antidote and I believe it is time we change our thinking! After all, that was the message Jesus carried 2,000 years ago, and since He went to such extreme measures, shouldn’t His children live somewhat differently from the rest of the world?

As this is such an important topic to me, I’ve joined another author, Margery Phelps,  in a new endeavor called Apple Pie Books, Great Books for Great Kids.  We have developed a consortium of authors with the common goal of making wholesome content available to children. Each author will bring their own message, teaching children in a fun and exciting way. We currently have two books available, including a free coloring book, and four more books   in the works.

Eventually, we would like to reach out to children of all walks, from all types of backgrounds with healthy, happy books and lessons. Children growing up in sadly dysfunctional environments need something positive in their lives (positive food for thought), but our challenge is getting the material into their hands.  If you have ideas or suggestions, we are listening.  We will also be hand picking Apple Pie Authors over the next few weeks, so if you are interested, please visit the Apple Pie site and drop us a line.

I will close this post with a scripture from the book of Philippians, chapter  4, verse 8: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
